Sixers Notes: Williams sidelined by broken jaw

Sixers Notes: Williams sidelined by broken jaw BOSTON - 76ers point guard Lou Williams was sidelined for last night's game against the Celtics after an X-ray revealed a fractured jaw.

Williams was hurt Tuesday when he took an elbow during a 108-107 loss to the Washington Wizards, the Sixers said. The 23-year-old guard played 39 minutes, scored 26 points and showed no signs of injury - during or after the game.

Although Williams did not suit up last night, the Sixers had not set an official timetable for his return. He missed only his fourth game since the 2006-07 season.

In place of Williams, Sixers coach Eddie Jordan started rookie Jrue Holiday.

For the season, Williams was averaging 17.4 points and 5.1 assists per game.

The Sixers said they would set a timetable for Williams' return after he is evaluated today, upon the team's return to Philadelphia.

Yesterday on Twitter, Williams wrote: "The places my career takes me. Just learned I have a fractured jaw. Gonna be out for a little while . . ."

In his last five games, Williams was playing his best Basketball of the season, averaging 23.6 points.

Brand out Nursing a sore right hamstring, Sixers power forward Elton Brand did not play the final 16 minutes, 14 seconds Tuesday.

He was evaluated after the game and listed as day-to-day, then he was scratched from last night's contest.

Brand made only 1 of 9 shots in the loss to the Wizards.

Iguodala's shooting woes Entering last night, guard Andre Iguodala was making 43.1 percent of his shots from the field, 29.2 percent from the three-point line, and 68.6 percent from the free-throw line this season. But in the previous games, Iguodala was 13 for 49 from the floor and 1 for 10 from beyond the arc.

In those games, all of which the Sixers lost, Iguodala averaged 13.0 points, dropping his season scoring average to 17.7.
