OKLAHOMA CITY - These are wacky times for the 76ers , off the court and on. As the organization awaits word from Allen Iverson on his acceptance, or rejection, of its offer, the team is in the middle of a weeklong four-game road trip that continues tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder and concludes Saturday night against the Charlotte Bobcats.
The Sixers , 5-13, have lost seven straight, including a strange 104-102 defeat against Dallas on Monday night, which ended with miscommunication between swingman Andre Iguodala and center Samuel Dalembert .
It was the team's ninth loss in 10 games.
With 1.4 seconds left and the Sixers trailing by a bucket, Iguodala caught the sideline inbounds pass, turned over his right shoulder, and appeared to shoot the potential game-winning three-pointer.
Before the ball could hit the rim - and the shot did appear long - Dalembert grabbed it out of the air and tried to dunk, missing as the buzzer sounded.
Even if Dalembert had made the attempt, it came after the buzzer and likely would have been offensive goaltending.
Seconds later, Iguodala, a puzzled look on face, asked Dalembert exactly what he was doing.
In the locker room, Iguodala downplayed the confusion, saying that it was nobody's fault and that Dalembert was "just trying to win the game."
Traveling
Center Marreese Speights , who is out for about another month with a torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee, is traveling with the team. Speights is walking well and shooting before games and at practices.
Point guard Lou Williams , who is out for eight weeks with a broken jaw, is not with the team.
Starting lineup
Before traveling to Oklahoma City yesterday, the Sixers practiced at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
At the practice, coach Eddie Jordan looked to be going again with a starting lineup of rookie Jrue Holiday , Willie Green , Iguodala, Thaddeus Young , and Dalembert.
Still out of the starting lineup appears to be power forward Elton Brand , who played against the Mavericks but missed the three previous games with a sore right hamstring.
