--The Sixers plan to start bringing prospective players in for workouts June 3. They hold the 16th pick in the June 26 draft. They traded their second round pick to acquire guard Lou Williams at No. 45 in 2005.
--Sixers president and general manager Ed Stefanski said that while he expects to get a decent player with the team's first-round pick, he won't say he'll add somebody who can make an immediate impact. Mock drafts have the Sixers landing guys like Ohio State F Kosta Koufos, North Carolina G Ty Lawson or Kansas G Mario Chalmers. "I think this draft is strong enough to get a player that fits what we want to do (run)," Stefanski said. "Would that player get on the court right away? Not likely."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I don't think that should come as a surprise to anyone in Philadelphia that we struggled from Day 1 in the half-court. That's one of the reasons we tried to up-tempo the game -- so we didn't have to stay in the half-court." -- President and general manager Ed Stefanski, on one of the reasons the he decided to have coach Maurice Cheeks implement a fast-break style two months into the season.
