--Sixers F Thaddeus Young earned NBA All-Rookie Second Team honors. Young, the 12th pick in last June's draft who barely played in the season's first two months, received four first-place votes and 23 points to finish eighth in the balloting. He averaged 8.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.0 steal in 74 games. In starting 22 of the final 38 regular-season games, he averaged 10.6 points and 5.0 rebounds in those starts and also started all six playoff games, averaging 10.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.17 steals.
--Sixers president and general manager Ed Stefanski said he planned to sit down with coach Maurice Cheeks in "the near future" to discuss a possible contract extension. Stefanski rewarded Cheeks, whose original deal would've ended June 30, with a one-year extension late in the season. The young Sixers' 40-42 record and two first-round victories over the experienced Pistons have prompted Stefanski to consider adding at least another year onto Cheeks' pact. QUOTE TO NOTE: "I don't think you can say Andre Iguodala is a '1' (first option) yet because he's 24 years old. Will he get there? He's going to have to shoot the ball better, which he knows. He's going to work on it." -- President and general manager Ed Stefanski, on 2007-08 leading scorer Andre Iguodala, who will become a restricted free agent July 1.
