Philadelphia 76ers Notes, Quotes 2009-10-28

Philadelphia 76ers Notes, Quotes 2009-10-28--While Eddie Jordan calls F Elton Brand "our horse" for his ability to score, Jordan was hoping Brand would involve his teammates more in the Princeton offense by the start of the regular season.

"It's just a matter of him fitting into the offense and being patient," Jordan said. "I don't mind him being overly aggressive now. I want him to feel good and find his way. Eventually, he's going to have to look at the whole picture and say, 'How can I help my teammates?' He does it defensively. He has to do it offensively."

--Rookie first-round pick Jrue Holiday was the only healthy Sixer who didn't play in the Oct. 14 preseason win over the Knicks. Jordan said he didn't want to throw Holiday in for a few second-half minutes against veteran New York guards Chris Duhon and Nate Robinson.

"I felt bad about not playing him, but that's life in the NBA," Jordan said. "He understands."

MAIN REASON SIXERS CAN WIN: The Sixers excel at the up-tempo style and Eddie Jordan's Princeton offense, allowing Andre Iguodala, Elton Brand and Thaddeus Young to flourish.

MAIN REASON SIXERS CAN LOSE: First-time starter Lou Williams and big man Samuel Dalembert are unable to provide the Sixers with high-quality play, injuries limit Brand for the third consecutive season and the players don't believe in the Princeton offense.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "He's trying to get himself going and prove that he's worthy of everything that's been put upon him -- (increased) leadership, the ($80 million) contract. It's going to come." -- Coach Eddie Jordan, on Elton Brand, who missed all but 29 games in his first season as a Sixer due to injury.
