
--Backup F/C Jason Smith underwent surgery the team deemed successful to repair a torn left ACL that he suffered while performing a practice drill Aug. 6. Dr. David Altchek performed the procedure in New York City with the Sixers' team physician observing. Smith, who averaged 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds for the Sixers as a rookie, is expected to miss the upcoming season.
--Former Sixers C Todd MacCulloch has decided not to return to do radio analysis on the Sixers' 2008-09 games. He and wife Jana had a daughter last spring and he wants to spend more time with her.
