The Sixers still aren't playing full games and aren't totally in sync with each other, but they're a lot better off than they were four days ago. With three consecutive wins, including Saturday's 110-85 victory over the Thunder, the Sixers are 5-5 and feeling a lot better than themselves than when they were 2-5.
They're showing signs of progress and possibly becoming the kind of team they expected to be after signing Elton Brand to an $82 million free agent contract. "I think we're coming along," center Samuel Dalembert said.
They've been able to get out and run, at times, which tends to get Andre Iguodala and Dalembert more involved than in the half-court offense. Second-year forward Thaddeus Young is leading the Sixers in scoring despite rarely having a play run for him. He has been the high scorer six times in 10 games after leading the team in that category once during his rookie season.
The half-court offense continues to be up-and-down, but the Sixers are doing a better job with the ball of late (71 assists and 37 turnovers in the last three games after having only three more assists than turnovers in the first seven).
"We're winning, playing better and communicating better as a team," Iguodala said. "We have to keep working and let it flow."
SIXERS 110, THUNDER 85: The Sixers broke open the game with a 21-6 third-quarter run that was spearheaded by their defense and produced a bunch of fast-break points. They produced a season-high 31 assists to just 14 turnovers, held a 58-45 rebounding advantage and pulled away with a 64-point second half.
