Brand strains hamstring
Philadelphia forward Elton Brand will miss today's game at Detroit with a strained right hamstring. Brand had an MRI on Thursday and did not travel with the Sixers. He is listed as day-to-day.
Brand didn't play the final 17 minutes of the 76ers' 114-102 loss to the Lakers on Wednesday when he first complained of the injury. He was limited to three points on 1-for-7 shooting in 25 ineffective minutes.
Magic act
Losing their top three guards to injury has been a blessing in disguise for Orlando.
Without their starting backcourt of Mickael Pietrus and Jameer Nelson, the Magic have not only survived, but prospered.
Rookie Courtney Lee has emerged as a potential go-to player, and Anthony Johnson has proven to be a dependable custodian at point guard.
