PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia 76ers center Jason Smith underwent reconstructive surgery on his left knee in New York on Wednesday to repair an injury sustained early last month.

Smith tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee while doing drills in Las Vegas on Aug. 6. No timetable has been set for his return.
Smith played in 76 games as a rookie, averaging 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in 14.5 minutes per game. In the Las Vegas Summer League, he posted averages of 18.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.0 block.
